This week with spring upon us, I thought I would write about childhood obesity. It’s all over the news. As a matter of fact, it’s the topic of Larry King’s show today. This week the cover of Newsweek reads, “Feed Your Children Well.” The other main ingredient missing here is “Exercise With Your Children.”
The simple truth is that this all needs to start when our children are very young. It’s really about lifestyle. I am passionate about the importance of being active, playing outdoors and indoors, exercising WITH our children starting when they are infants. I did this myself with both my babies. I was a big fitness enthusiast, and still am. I had the very first “Jogging Stroller” (best baby gear investment I ever made). Both my baby boys would exercise with me (riding along in our jogging stroller as I pushed them–they LOVED it!). I vividly remember people stopping me to ask what my stroller was. They had never seen one before, and thought it was the coolest thing–it was and still is!! They always commented on how great it was that I could exercise/run with my baby. When my second baby boy was born, my four-year-old son had just learned to ride his bike.
